CEM60 rescue and upgrades
A second-hand iOptron CEM60 bought cheap with the "5-minute spike" and dead PC communication — repaired, then upgraded with a mini-PC holder on the DEC axis and new wiring and power.
The full write-up is in preparation. This page is a short preview for now.
The mount that carries my rig is a rescue. I bought the iOptron CEM60 for a very good price, and the price came with two known problems:
- the “5-minute spike” in tracking;
- no working communication with the PC.
Both are fixed now, and the mount got a few upgrades while it was open:
- a holder for the mini PC on the DEC axis, so the acquisition computer rides with the mount and the cables stay short;
- redesigned wiring and power.
The full repair story and the upgrades will get their own posts. Stay tuned.
In use on the rig as iOptron CEM60.
